OMG PD: Drugs and Booze Flow, Then the Cops Show

Here's a round-up of recent, bizarre police report items from the area.

GLEN ELLYN 

Booze-Filled Theft

Someone removed five cases of alcohol from a delivery truck while it was parked in the loading dock of a business on the 500 block of Roosevelt Road. The incident occurred sometime between 10:45 a.m. and 12:46 p.m. June 17, according to police.

Can I Have My Poison Back?  

John M. O’Brien, 23, of the 300 block of South Grant Street, Westmont, was charged with DUI-drugs, DUI-cannabis, no driver’s license, and improper lane use. According to police, a syringe was found lying on the ground outside the passenger window of O’Brien’s vehicle. O’Brien later asked police if he could have his syringe back, according to a report. He and his girlfriend posted an unspecified bond, and O’Brien was released pending a July 24 court appearance.

 

DOWNERS GROVE

Too Much to Drink 

Cody A. Colbert, 28, of the 7600 block of West 63rd Street, Summit, was charged with disorderly conduct and criminal trespass at Burlington Avenue and Main Street. Colbert left a beer garden at about 10:45 p.m. June 22 — he was speaking loudly and in a hostile manner toward another man with a ponytail walking in the same direction, according to a police report. Colbert's girlfriend was trying to push him away from the man, who never responded or turned towards him. "Colbert was resisting her and I heard him say, 'I'll beat that mother------'- a--,'" the report said. Read the full report. 

 

They Took the Post, Too 

A man noticed at about 7:30 a.m. June 22 that his entire mailbox, including the $30 wooden post it was mounted on, was stolen on the 4000 block of Fairview Avenue. The $100 mailbox was custom-painted black with green flames, according to a report.

 

Be a Man About It 

Two men got into a verbal altercation that briefly turned physical at a business on the 1400 block of Butterfield Road. The man who contacted police said at about 1:55 p.m. June 20 he drove around a vehicle driven by a woman who was stopped in the roadway of the business parking lot. After he entered the store, another man approached him and yelled that he almost hit his wife's car by driving recklessly. Their verbal exchange ended with the second man pushing the first backwards, causing him to almost fall. Read the full report.

 

CLARENDON HILLS 

Was it the Alcohol? 

A man who was highly intoxicated missed his train stop in LaGrange and got off at Clarendon Hills at 1:27 p.m. June 13. He thought two other males that got off the train at the same time looked suspicious because they weren't dressed like him and were walking in the same direction as him, according to police. An officer had someone call for a cab and stood by until the cab arrived.

 

BURR RIDGE 

Cameras Don’t Lie 

Arturo Salazar, 30, of the 800 block of Oakton Street, Des Plaines, and Toribio A. Carvajal, 36, of the 300 block of South Kimball, Elmhurst, were each charged with theft under $500. Salazar and Carvajal were arrested at 8:05 p.m. on the 15W400 block of North Frontage Road after management caught them on surveillance cameras stealing four Samsung cellular phones, according to police.
