No Injuries in Shady Lane House Fire

A single family home in Wheaton was returned to its owners Monday night after a fire on the first floor.

No one was injured in a fire at a Wheaton home Monday night, officials said.

The Wheaton Fire Department responded to an unoccupied home at 1383 E. Shady Lane in the northeast area of Wheaton around 7:45 p.m. Monday. 

Crews brought the fire on the first floor of the home under control within about 15 minutes, according to a news release from the fire department. The basement and second floor sustained water and smoke damage. According to a dispatch report around 8:52 p.m. Monday, the fire was in the back in the back of the house.

The building was turned back over to the property owner Monday night. Officials from the Wheaton Fire Department and the DuPage County Fire Investigation Taskforce are conducting an investigation as the cause of the fire has not been determined, according to the release. Damage estimates are not available.
