No Injuries in Fire at Unoccupied Home

Fire's cause ruled accidental.

Firefighters needed only minutes to knock out a fire Monday night in an unoccupied home on Washington Avenue.

Crews were called to the 1400 block of North Washington around 9 p.m. and spotted flames in the frame of a living room window. A fire department statement said the fire started accidentally, apparently caused by the use of a heat gun during a painting project.

No injuries were reported and a damage estimate was not immediately available, according to fire officials. The single-family home is being rehabbed and no one is currently living there.
