Morning Fire Damages Wheaton Townhouse

The cause of a fire that started Thursday morning in a Wheaton townhouse building is under investigation. 

The Wheaton Fire Department was called to 1313 E. Loughborough Court at 7:45 a.m. for a report of a fire in the four-unit condo building, according to a city of Wheaton press release. Firefighters found the fire in the kitchen of a center unit and were able to quickly get it under control.

A resident of the unit where the fire originated was treated on the scene for a minor injury and then released, according to the news release. No one else was injured in the fire and everyone was able to safely evacuate the building. 
 
Investigators from the Wheaton Fire Department are conducting a fire investigation, and the cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. Damage estimates are unavailable at this time.
 
The city of Wheaton Building Department was called to the scene. The townhouse unit where the fire occurred was posted uninhabitable, but the remaining units were turned back over to their owners for re-occupancy.
 
The Wheaton Fire Department was also assisted on the scene by the Wheaton Police Department and several fire departments from neighboring communities.
