More Vehicles Vandalized on South Lorraine

Wheaton police say the damage is consistent with the use of a BB gun, similar to the damage reported in the same area the weekend of Oct. 26-27, 2013.

A resident’s report of apparent BB gun damage to a vehicle on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, led police to discover five more vehicles that had been damaged, apparently by someone using a BB gun.

A police summary of the incident states that the resident of an apartment complex on the 1100 block of South Lorraine Road reported the damage to the resident’s vehicle about 7:30 a.m. The officer reported that BBs apparently had shot out the rear window of the resident’s vehicle, as well as causing three dents and chipping the paint.

The vehicle had been parked in a lot at the apartment complex, and the investigating officer found that five other vehicles also had been damaged, also apparently by BBs. The vehicles had been parked next to each other in the same lot, police said.

Wheaton police were swamped with similar reports on Sunday, Oct. 27, when residents in the same area and along the 1000 and 11000 blocks of South Lorraine, and another on the 1100 block of South Prospect Street, reported vandalism to their vehicles and to the bedroom window of one home.

Police said the damage in many of those incidents was consistent with BB gun damage.
