Marijuana, Retail Theft and Suspended License Charges: Police Blotter

Wheaton police reports from Oct. 1-5 include a break-in attempt at a Wheaton apartment, retail theft and drugs charges.

FRIDAY, OCT. 5

Marijuana Possession

Police said they charged Luis Tello-Ahuatl, 20, of West Chicago, with driving on a suspended license. He drove a black 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo near the intersection of Childs and West streets around midnight when police stopped him. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.

Break-in Attempt

Someone tried to break into an apartment in the 1600 block of Briarcliffe Boulevard between 11 p.m. Wednesday and 7:30 a.m. Thursday. The resident told police his wife heard people talking outside and thought the people were on their patio. When they woke up Thursday, they saw the screen door was partly open, police said.

Driving Without a License

  • Police said they charged Alyssa Maurer, 48, of the 600 block of Wheaton Avenue in Wheaton, with driving without a license. She drove a blue 2005 Honda Odyssey near the intersection of Franklin and West streets around 9 a.m. when police stopped her. She was released on the scene.
  • Police said they charged Simon Ramos, 27, of West Chicago, with driving without a license. He drove a red 2006 Chevy Cobalt near the intersection of Ellis Avenue and Geneva Road around 10:50 p.m. when police stopped him. He was released on the scene.

Suspended License

Police said they charged Stephanie Gaytan, 19, of Elgin, with driving on a suspended license. She drove a white 2005 Hyundai Elantra near the intersection of Geneva Road and Main Street around 10:20 a.m. She was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released on the scene.

Retail Theft

Police said they charged Mariana Castillo, 19, of the 800 block of West Roosevelt Road in Wheaton, with stealing clothes in the 400 block of County Farm Road. Castillo was arrested around 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of Childs Street and Gables Boulevard, booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that night, according to reports.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 3

Copper Stolen From Construction Site

Someone broke into a building under construction in the 600 block of south Main Street and stole two barrels of copper between 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2 and 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3. 

Damaged Windshield Wiper

Someone broke the windshield wiper of a tan 2000 Toyota Camry parked in the 1400 block of Lorraine Road between 3 p.m. Oct. 2 and 9 a.m. Oct. 3.

TUESDAY, OCT. 2

License Plate Stolen

Someone stole a license plate from a car in the 200 block of Cross Street between 1:15 and 4:15 p.m.

MONDAY, OCT. 1

Marijuana Possession

Police issued a local ordinance citation to Cameron Jackson, 23, of Chicago, in connection with marijuana possession. He was cited near the intersection of Carlton Street and Roosevelt Road around 9:15 p.m. and released on the scene.
