Man Jailed for Arranging Sex With Cop Posing as Wheaton Teen

A downstate man will serve six months' jail time for soliciting sex with a police officer posing as a 14-year-old in Wheaton.

A DuPage County Judge last week sentenced a Kincaid man caught trying to arrange sex with a police officer posing as a Wheaton teen in 2011, the Daily Herald reported Friday.

Judge George Bakalis ordered Nicholas Marcogliese, 33, to serve 180 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to indecent solicitation of a child—aggravated criminal sexual abuse, solicitation to meet a child—five years or more older, attempted aggravated criminal sexual abuse by a person five, or more, years older than the 13- to 16-year-old victim, traveling to meet a minor and grooming, court records show.

Marcogliese will also register as a sex offender.

A defense attorney said Marcogliese was under the influence of alcohol and bath salts when he solicited sex from the teen, according to the Herald.
