UPDATED: $15K in Jewelry Taken From Downtown Wheaton Business

The jewelry was missing from a secured display case. Here are more details.

Updated 4:15 p.m. Monday, March 11:

Police said Monday it is unclear where a store manager or employees were March 5 when nearly $15,000 in merchandise was taken from a display case at a downtown Wheaton jewelry store. Store employees noticed the missing items about 3 p.m., but are unsure when the theft would have occurred. 

The display case that held the items, and its lock, were not damaged, police said.

Several pieces of jewelry worth nearly $15,000 in all was taken recently from a downtown Wheaton business, according to police.

The owner of the business, located on the 100 block of West Front Street, discovered the jewelry missing from a front secured display case at about 3 p.m. March 5. Police responded to the business about an hour later.

Someone removed 18 pendants and metal jewelry valued at $14,634.75 from the case, according to a police report.

Further information on this incident was not immediately available.
