Illegal Alcohol Possession, Neon Sign Snatched: Police Blotter
Wheaton police reports, March 26-27
WEDNESDAY, MARCH 27
Leather Wallet, $375 Taken
A woman who placed her purse on a store shelf later found that someone took her $250 black leather wallet inside. The woman was shopping on March 27 at a store on the first block of West Loop Road. The purse was on a shelf unattended from 3:20 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. while the woman was a short distance away. As the woman finished her shopping, she attempted to make a purchase and discovered her wallet was missing. There was $375 inside the wallet.

Neon Sign at Wheaton College Swiped
Someone took a neon sign that was hanging in a geology hallway at the Wheaton College Meyer Science Center on the 400 block of North Howard. The incident was reported on this day and occurred sometime over the previous weekend, between 5 p.m. March 22 and 10 p.m. March 24. The sign was valued at $1,000.
Graffiti
While on residential patrol, an officer observed graffiti at about 4:15 a.m. on an Ameritech electric box on the southwest corner of Liberty and Washington streets.

Suspended License
Police charged Cordell L. Smith, 25, of the 1300 block of West Lincoln Highway, DeKalb, with driving on a suspended license. Smith drove a maroon or burgundy 2002 Dodge Intrepid near the intersection of Roosevelt Road and Polo Drive at about 1:55 a.m. when police stopped him. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.
During the same incident, police arrested Jasmin L. Baker, 19, of the 10500 block of South LaSalle Street, Chicago, on an outstanding Lake County Sheriff's Office warrant. She was released from the DuPage County Sheriff's Office later that day.
Alcohol Possession by a Minor
Police charged Manuel R. Slater, 20, of the 3000 block of Jamestown Court, Streamwood, with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor. Slater drove a blue 2004 Saturn Ion near the intersection of Carlton Street and Roosevelt Road at about 1:30 a.m. when police stopped him. He was released at the scene.
