UPDATE: House Explodes in Morris Tuesday Morning

The explosion and fire were thought to be caused by natural gas.

A house in the 5800 block of Barrington Road exploded Tuesday morning. The Morris Fire District Chief remained on the scene Tuesday afternoon.

The Morris Daily Herald is reporting that the fire caused $1 million in damages. The fire was caused by an explosion, which reportedly occurred around 3 a.m., Tuesday.

"Neighbors confirm they heard a large explosion," Morris Fire Chief Tracey Steffes said in the Morris Daily Herald story. "One neighbor to the east thought there was an earthquake because the house shook."

The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire.

Barrington Road is near the Morris Country Club.

Common Sense, the aricle says to read the full story by "clicking here" & it states the couple that own the home were away.

The owners are a lovely retired couple. They spend a lot if their time in the Florida during the winter months. Their children are grown and have families of their own and spend a lot if time in Morris with their parents and friends (often bringing friends with them to enjoy the company of the home owners). The house was not for sale. Many kids from Morris (now grown) spent time at the home shown. A very welcoming and warm family loved by anyone who knows them! Thankfully no one was home!

Thankfully no one was home! But my goodness do we need 120 pics of fire ravaging this home and firefighters working? I wouldn't want someone snapping pics while I'm working and posting them. What pyro had a field day with the camera?
