Girl Reports Attempted Child Abduction Thursday

Girl reports man in SUV who asked if she wanted candy while she walked along Main Street near Madison Avenue around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

A young girl reported an attempted child abduction in Wheaton Thursday. 

According to a Friday press release from Wheaton police, the girl was walking along Main Street near Madison Avenue around 8:30 p.m. when a black SUV pulled up to her and one of the four men inside asked her if she wanted candy. 

The girl ran to a neighbor's home and the car fled northbound with all four men inside, police said.

Officers searched the area Thursday night and did not find the men or the vehicle, which was described as an older model black SUV with a loud muffler, dark tinted windows and rust on the body.

The suspect who called to the girl was described as a 17- to 18-year-old white male with spiked hair, wearing a tie-dyed T-shirt, according to the release.
