Former WWS Teacher's Child Porn Case to Resume Next Week

Jason Haas, a former biology teacher at Wheaton Warrenville South High School, is scheduled to appear for a pretrial in Will County Court Dec. 5.

A former Wheaton Warrenville South High School biology and chemistry teacher charged with possession of child pornography is scheduled to return to court in Will County next week for a pretrial hearing. 

Jason Haas, 36, was arrested almost two years ago on in Naperville on charges of aggravated possession of child pornography.

"Aggravated" possession of child pornography refers to depictions of children under the age of 13, according to Illinois law. Haas faces three counts of the charge, a Class 2 felony.

Haas pleaded not guilty in Will County Court in January 2011, court records show. The case has continued several times, including at his last court date in October. Court records show eight pretrial dates in the case, including two final pretrials.

According to Naperville police, evidence was recovered during the execution of the search warrant and brought back to the Naperville Police Departments computer lab for further analysis, police said. During the analysis numerous images of child pornography were discovered on the computer belonging to Haas, who at the time lived in the 2200 block of Norwich Court in Naperville.

Haas, who had worked in District 200 since 2003, was immediately placed on administrative leave. He is no longer listed as an employee at Wheaton Warrenville South. 

Haas' pretrial is 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5 in Will County Court, 14 W. Jefferson St., Joliet.
