Former Wheaton Man Dies in Confrontation With Colorado Cops

Officers were responding to a potential domestic situation when they say Michael Habay, who was wielding knives, rushed them.

A former Wheaton resident was shot dead on Sunday by police in Colorado who say he was wielding two knives when he rushed at officers responding to what they believed might be a domestic situation, the Chicago Tribune reports.


Michael Habay, 42, formerly of Wheaton, was shot by one of the officers responding to a potential domestic situation early Sunday afternoon, Nov. 24, 2013 in Boulder, Colo., the Tribune reports, citing a Boulder, Colo., police press release that states the shooting remains under investigation.

The Tribune report states that Habay's father in Wheaton declined to discuss the shooting when contacted Wednesday.
