UPDATED: No One Injured in Fire at Wheaton Home

Fire officials are investigating how the fire started.

No one was injured in a fire to a Wheaton home early Wednesday at 619 Frazier Court. 

The fire department responded to the reported fire in the single-family house around midnight Wednesday, according to a press release

Upon arrival, crews identified heavy fire in an attached porch area of the home that was rapidly extending to the attic space. Firefighters used numerous hose lines and an aerial ladder to extinguish the fire within about an hour, according to the release. The home, which appeared to be under remodeling, was unoccupied at the time of the fire and the incident did not result in any injuries.

The cause of the fire is undetermined, officials said. Investigators from the Wheaton Fire Department and the DuPage County Fire Investigation Task Force are conducting a fire investigation.

Damage to the home was extensive, including major damage to the roof area. The exact value of the loss is unknown at this time. The City of Wheaton Building Department was called to the scene. The Wheaton Fire Department was also assisted on the scene by the and numerous fire departments from neighboring communities who were called through a second-alarm mutual aid box alarm, which brought approximately 50 firefighters to work on the scene.
