Felony Drug Charges, Rifle, Retail Theft: Police Blotter

Wheaton police reports, Oct. 3-8

MONDAY, OCT. 8

Possession of Stolen Cell Phone

Police said they charged Deon Dumas-Woodson, 18, of Glendale Heights with possession of a stolen cell phone. Dumas-Woodson was arrested near the intersection of North Avenue and Virginia Street around noon, booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that day.

Failure-to-Appear Warrant

Police said they charged Peter Velez, 31 of the 1300 block of North Main Street in Wheaton with a failure-to-appear warrant. He was arrested at Stone Park Village Hall, 1629 N. Mannheim Rd. in Stone Park around midnight and taken to DuPage County Jail.

Stolen Rifle

Someone stole a $740 rifle at the DuPage County Fairgrounds around 2 p.m. Police said the gun owner leaned the rifle against a bench at the fairgrounds to help a friend pack his car and forgot about it. When he returned to the fairgrounds, the rifle was gone.

SATURDAY, OCT. 6

Suspended License, Registration

Police said they charged Jeffrey Adams, 43, of the 200 block of Evergreen Street in Wheaton with operating a vehicle with suspended registration, driving on a suspended license and illegal license use. Adams drove a white 1998 BMW near the intersection of Naperville Road and Danada Square East around 9 p.m. when police stopped him. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that night.

Retail Theft

Police said they issued a local ordinance citation of retail theft to William Keenen, 68, of Glen Ellyn. Keenen is charged with stealing consumables in the 100 block of Rice Lake Square around 3:15 p.m. He was released on the scene.

FRIDAY, OCT. 5

Bike Theft

Someone stole a $200 bike from a rack near the intersection of Liberty Drive and West Street between 7:40 a.m. and 5:40 p.m.

THURSDAY, OCT. 4

Drug Paraphernalia

Police said they issued a local ordinance citation of possession of drug paraphernalia to James Oronj, 27, of Carol Stream. He was cited near the intersection of Harrison and Main streets around 7:45 a.m. and released on the scene.

WEDNESDAY, OCT. 3

Felony Possession, Controlled Substance

Police said tehy charged Ebben Knippen, 22, of the 100 block of North Hale Street in Wheaton with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. Knippen was arrested in the 1600 block of Longfellow Court around 1 a.m., booked at the Wheaton Police Department and taken to DuPage County Jail.
