Emergency Crew Saves Streamwood Man Pinned Beneath Dump Truck in Elmhurst

The 39-year-old Streamwood man was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

Emergency workers extricated a Streamwood man pinned beneath an overturned dump truck at a construction site in Elmhurst Tuesday morning.

The 39-year-old was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove.

"The patient was conscious and alert" at the time of transport, according to a statement released by the City of Elmhurst.

Elmhurst police and firefighters were reportedly sent to the construction site at 425 S. Spring Road about 11:45 a.m.

When they found the man trapped under the dump truck, the Elmhurst Fire Department requested assistance and nine area fire departments sent 30 rescue workers to help, according to the city.

"A total of 45 responding personnel utilized heavy rescue extrication equipment to remove the trapped truck driver," the release said. "Additional assistance was provided by the Elmhurst Public Works Department who provided personnel and equipment, as well as West and Sons Towing, for the stabilization of the dump truck."

A helicopter dispatched to transport the man to Good Samaritan landed on a York High School practice field. Workers reportedly freed the trapped and injured man about 1:45 p.m
