DUI Roundup: Man Charged After 2 Killed in Sunday Crash on Eisenhower

DUI reports from Patch communities this week include the tragic death of two people in Forest Park, and charges leveled against the 26-year-old who also is charge with leaving the scene of a fatal crash.


DOWNERS GROVE


JAN. 12: Daniel Caruso, of the 1400 block of Stonebridge in Wheaton, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding, improper lane usage and failure to signal after a traffic stop at Butterfield Road and Park Avenue. He was issued a Feb. 19 court date at the Wheaton courthouse.

JAN. 11: Charles Mertens, of 7s428 Creek Drive in Naperville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI alcohol BAC greater than .08, speeding, improper lane usage and failure to signal when required after a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Ogden Avenue. He was issued a Feb. 19 court date at the Wheaton courthouse.


ELMHURST


JAN. 14: Marvin Deleon, 29, 1034 E. Division Apt. A, Lombard, was arrested and charged with DUI and driving without a license after police pulled over his red Mercury Cougar for improper lane use at North Avenue and Route 83 at 1:01 a.m. He was released on bond.

JAN. 12:

  • Nicole T. Martinez, 39, 330 E. Elm St., Villa Park, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and DUI after police pulled over her silver Chrysler 300 for failure to yield at North and Villa at 4:25 p.m. Police said they found a plastic baggie containing suspect cocaine in a jacket in the back seat of the vehicle. She was taken to DuPage County Jail.

  • Rafael Gomez, 50, 567 S. Main, Lombard, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over his tan Jeep Liberty for improper lane use at Route 83 and the Union Pacific Railroad at 2:13 a.m. He was released on bond.


  • GLEN ELLYN


    JAN. 5: Kaw Mu Poe, 27, 306 Western Ave., Wheaton, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police found Poe improperly parked on the 500 block of Roosevelt Road at 6:19 a.m.


    LA GRANGE


    Jan. 7: Westmont police arrested Monika Tarsauskaite, 22, of the 1000 block of Hillgrove Avenue in La Grange, for driving under the influence of alcohol after a hit-and-run accident in the 100 block of Cass Avenue around 11:40 p.m. She was cited for leaving the roadway and leaving the scene of an accident and released.


    LEMONT


    JAN. 11: Dajuan L. Wright, 32, of the 7600 block of Eggleston in Chicago, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage, after a traffic stop near Archer Avenue and McCarthy Road. He was issued a Feb. 26 court date at the Bridgeview Courthouse.

    JAN. 4: Tautvilas Tarasovas, 46, of the 400 block of Ashbury Court in Lemont, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, disobeying no passing zone, and driving too fast for conditions. He was issued a Feb. 28 court date at the Bridgeview Courthouse.


    OAK PARK


    Jan. 12: Aaron Moore, 26, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of a fatal crash after two women died early Sunday morning in a crash on the Eisenhower Expressway in Forest Park, My Fox Chicago reports. He is charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in death and two counts of leaving the scene of a fatal crash after two women in a Ford Windstar died on impact when they were rear-ended by a Dodge Durango around 3:45 a.m., according to Fox.

    Jan. 11: Police charged Robert Yuro, 37, of the 200 block of South Oak Park Avenue with driving under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop in the 700 block of Washington Boulevard around 3:50 a.m.


    ST. CHARLES


    JAN. 14: Julianne M. Zoerlein, 24, of the 6N600 block of Heritage Court, was arrested at 11:16 p.m. on the 3200 block of East Main Street on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol concentration greater than .08, and disobeying a traffic-control device. According to police, her blood-alcohol concentration registered at .258, more than three times the legal limit. She posted her driver’s license and was released on her own recognizance pending a Feb. 13, 2014 court appearance.

    JAN. 11: Alex Lombardo Valenzuela, 26, of the 4900 block of North Avers, Chicago, was arrested at 4:14 a.m. at 600 S. Randall Road, on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol concentration greater than .08, disobeying a traffic control device, and speeding, 63 in a 45 mph zone. Police said Valenzuela was clocked on radar at 63 mph while northbound on South Randall. He later registered a blood-alcohol concentration of .161, which is just more than twice the legal limit. Valenzuela posted his driver’s license and was released on his own recognizance pending an unspecified court appearance.

    Jan. 9: Helen Marie Oltz, 49, of the 2200 block of Vanderbilt Drive, Geneva, was arrested at 5:50 p.m. on East Main Street on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, and improper lane use. She posted her driver’s license and was released on her own recognizance pending a Feb. 5, 2014 court appearance.
