DuPage DUI Arrests, Oct. 21

One man takes a swing at an officer after a traffic stop, and others are found with cannabis. Get the details in this week's roundup of DuPage drunken driving arrests.

BURR RIDGE

Oct. 7: Christian P. Banach, 33, of the 1700 block of Tower Hill Drive, Woodridge, was charged with DUI after he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop for improper lane use and driving without headlights near the intersection of Route 83 and I-55 at 5:09 a.m., and failed an ensuing breath test, police said.

Banach was charged with two counts of DUI, and one count each of improper lane use and driving without headlights. He was released to appear in court.

Oct. 6: Matthew J. Rotroff, 29, of the 16700 block of west Adobe Drive, Lockport, was charged with DUI after he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop for speeding in the 5700 block of County Line Road at 3:01 a.m., and failed an ensuing breath test, police said.

Rotroff was charged with two counts of DUI and one count of speeding. He was released to appear in court.

DARIEN

Sept. 30: Rodney James, 46, of 205 S. Oak Creek Lane in Romeoville, was arrested at about 2:42 a.m. near the intersection of I-55 and Cass Avenue. He was charged with Possession of Cannabis, DUI - Physical Control, DUI - Over .08, Speeding and Flee/Attempting to Elude Peace Officer. James was observed driving 92 mph in a 55-mph zone, police said.

James failed to stop for approximately three miles while being followed by the police with lights and sirens operating, officers said. James admitted to consuming alcohol, and they say he had Cannabis in his front pocket, police said. James submitted to a breathalyzer test, and police said he was over twice the legal limit. He was given a court date of Oct. 30 in Wheaton.

DOWNERS GROVE

Oct. 8: Frank Gomez, 37, of the 3800 block of West Street in Chicago, was arrested around 1:20 a.m. at 55th Street and Fairview Avenue, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, improper turn and improper lane usage. He was issued a Nov. 7 court date.

Oct. 6: David Sandoval, 29, of the 600 block of Nolan Avenue in Glendale Heights, was arrested around 3:24 a.m. at Interstate 355 and Butterfield Road, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and possession of a controlled substance. He was issued a Nov. 14 court date.

ELMHURST

Oct. 13: Cuahutemul Villagomez, 42, 450 W. Touhy Lot 94, Des Plaines, was arrested and charged with DUI, illegal transportation of open alcohol and driving without insurance after police pulled over his black Dodge for parking on the roadway at North Avenue and Route 83 at 11:41 p.m. He was released on bond.

Oct. 11: Ivan E. Rodriguez, 29, 6035 Shelvurne, Humble, Texas, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police pulled over his black Ford F150 for improper lane use at St. Charles and Interstate 290 at 1:03 a.m. He was released on bond.

GLEN ELLYN

Oct. 14: Andrew J. Pavlis, 37, of the 1100 block of South Lorraine Road in Wheaton, was arrested at 1:18 a.m. at Roosevelt Road and Nicoll Way, Glen Ellyn police said. He was charged with speeding and driving under the influence.

Oct. 13: Police said Edward M. Zakee, 30, of the 1400 block of Fairway Drive, Naperville, was arrested at 2:16 a.m. at Roosevelt Road and Parkside Avenue. He was charged with speeding and driving under the influence.

Oct. 7:

  • Troy R. Adams, 23, of the 1100 block of Cedar Street, Glendale Heights, was arrested at 12:14 a.m. at St. Charles Road and Western Avenue, police said. He was charged with improper lane usage, speeding and driving under the influence.
  • David J. Petroskey, 69, of the 25W700 block of Ambrust Street, Wheaton, was arrested at 1:11 a.m. at Geneva Road and Nachtman Court, Glen Ellyn Police said. He was charged with driving under the influence and improper lane usage.

Oct. 6:

  • Adam K. Bartel, 30, of the 300 block of North Martha Street, Lombard, was arrested at 12:14 a.m. at Route 53 and Surrey Drive, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence and speeding.
  • Police said Rachel M. Harrolle, 48, of the 800 block of Napa Street, Carol Stream, was arrested at 2:16 a.m. at Park and Hawthorne boulevards. She was charged with driving under the influence and improper lane use.

HINSDALE

Oct. 14: Thomas C. Bouton, 32, of the 600 block of Hillside Drive, Hinsdale, was charged with DUI, battery, speeding and improper lane use, police said. He appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during a speeding stop near 55th and Garfield streets at 2:16 a.m. but refused a breath test, police said.

Deputy Chief Mark Wodka said Bouton made “assaultive statements” toward the officer booking him at the police station, and then attempted to strike him. After he was restrained, Bouton grabbed the hand of the officer—contact police said they considered to be “of a provoking nature.” The officer was not injured. Bouton was released to appear in court.

LISLE

Oct. 14: Jonathan W. Carlson, 22, 824 Wellner Road, Naperville, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol at 3:30 a.m. at Radcliff and Plank roads, police said.

WHEATON

Oct. 14:

  • Police said they charged Sebastien DuFort, 39, of Hinsdale with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegally transporting liquor and resisting and obstructing an officer. DuFort drove a black 2008 Nissan near the intersection of Gary Avenue and Geneva Road around midnight when police stopped him, according to reports. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.
  • Police said they charged Michael Mihelcic, 28, of the 1200 block of Midwest Lane in Wheaton with driving under the influence of alcohol. Mihelcic drove a gray 2012 Toyota Camry near the intersection of Chase Street and Roosevelt Road around 1 a.m. when police stopped him, according to reports. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.

Oct. 13: Police said they charged Lori Ortolano, 42, of the 400 block of Knollwood Drive in Wheaton with driving under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested at her home at 3:35 p.m. and released on the scene, according to reports.

Oct. 8.: Police said they charged Rafael Rendon-Carino, 23, of West Chicago with driving under the influence of alcohol. He drove a black 2004 Infiniti near the intersection of Roosevelt and County Farm roads around 5:30 p.m. when police stopped him. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that night.
