DuPage DUI Arrests, Feb. 17

DARIEN

Jan. 25:

  • David Garcia, 21, of the 8100 block of Kildare in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane use. Police said they saw a car moving very slowly and weaving at 2:46 a.m. at Lemont and Frontage roads. While talking with Garcia, officers could smell an odor of alcohol, they said. He failed field sobriety tests and was arrested and given a court date in Wheaton.
  • Jeramiah Quick, 26, of the 6900 block of Crest in Darien, was charged with driving under the influence, possession of cannabis, speeding and improper lane use. Police said Quick was speeding at 1:20 a.m. in the 400 block of Plainfield Road. Quick had slurred speech, glassy eyes and smelled like alcohol, police said. He failed field sobriety tests. Police also smelled marijuana and found a plastic bag with cannabis in it. He was arrested and given a court date in Wheaton.

Feb. 13: Brian R. Goc, 44, of the 200 block of Park Street in Westmont, was arrested around 12:29 a.m. near Main Street and Maple Avenue, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding. He was issued a March 20 court date.

Feb. 11: Carlos Valadez, 40, of the 2600 block of Maple Avenue in Downers Grove, was arrested around 1:37 p.m. near Walnut and Maple avenues, police said. He was charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage, illegal transportation of alcohol and aggravated driving with a revoked license. He was issued a March 20 court date.

ELMHURST

Feb. 12: Michael Brady, 30, 1606 Stonebridge Trail, Wheaton, was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without insurance after the gray Acura TL he was driving was involved in an accident with a vehicle driven by a 24-year-old Villa Park man at Route 83 and North Avenue at 12:05 a.m. Police said Brady, who had previous arrests for DUI, also was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was taken to Elmhurst hospital, then to DuPage County Jail. His vehicle was towed for forfeiture.

Feb. 10 :

  • Benjamin Gibbons, 34, 254 N. West Ave., was arrested and charged with DUI after his red Ford Ranger reportedly was involved in a hit-and-run accident in Chicago. The victim followed Gibbons into Elmhurst, where police arrested him at Second and Larch at 1:04 a.m. 
  • Carlos D. A. Mayorga, 20, 5019 W. Belden, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, possession of alcohol, consumption of alcohol by a minor, unlawful use of a license and driving with a suspended license after police pulled over his green Ford Escape for disobeying a traffic control device at St. Charles and Route 83 at 3:03 a.m. He was released on I-bond. A passenger in the car, Alberto Marin Jr., 20, 5028 W. Drummond, Chicago, was charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor. They both were released on I-bond.
  • Jose M. Bernal-Almaraz, 21, 530 Stevens Drive Apt. 7, Addison, was arrested and charged with DUI, driving without insurance and driving without a license after his green Volkswagen Golf crashed into a tree at Grand Avenue west of County Line Road at 3:21 a.m. He had to be extricated from the vehicle. He was taken to Loyola Hospital.
  • Zachary A. Johnson, 23, 1993 Brentwood Lane East, Wheaton, was arrested and charged with DUI and driving without insurance after his green Dodge Intrepid crashed into a light pole at Brush Hill west of Euclid at 3:48 a.m. He also was charged with injury to city property.

Feb. 9:

  • Nicholas Rojas, 31, 4937 N. Troy Apt. 3, Chicago, was arrested and charged with DUI and illegal transportation of alcohol after police pulled over his blue Toyota Matrix for disobeying a flashing red light at York and Second streets at 2:03 a.m. While in lockup, police said Rojas made suicidal statements; he was taken to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.
  • Rene Surovoy, 36, 263 Sherwood, Wood Dale, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over his silver Volkswagen Jetta for speeding at York and Industrial Drive at 1:39 a.m. He was released on I-bond.

Feb. 6:

  • Michael Smoter, 36, 350 N. State, Addison, was arrested and charged with DUI after police received a call for a suspicious vehicle parked at Villa and Alexander at 1:50 a.m. Police said they found Smoter asleep at the wheel of a Dodge Ram. He was released on bond.
  • Edward Wojciechowski, 39, 313 Gregory Court, Schaumburg, was arrested and charged with DUI after police received a call for a suspicious vehicle parked in the lot at American Mattress, 665 W. North Ave., at 1:08 a.m. Police located Wojciechowski in a green Acura 3.0. He said he was lost and trying to use his GPS to get home, police said. He was released on bond.

Feb. 3:

  • Kizzy Edwards, 35, 288 E. St. Charles, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with DUI after police pulled over her tan Chevrolet Venture for improper lane use, speeding and failure to signal at West and North at 2:28 a.m. She was released on I-bond.
  • Patrick Schwartz, 23, 458 E. Park, Elmhurst, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia after police pulled over his green Honda CRV for speeding and improper lane use at North and Willow at 1:58 a.m. He was released on I-bond.

HINSDALE

Feb. 10: Conor E. Brennan, 21, of the 3900 block of North Grant Street, Westmont, was charged with DUI after police said he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during a traffic stop for improper lane use near the intersection of Monroe and 55th streets at 3:39 a.m., and failed an ensuing breath test.

Brennan was charged with two counts of DUI, improper lane use and improper turn. He was released to appear in court.

Feb. 9: Renata Medas, 39, of the 6100 block of Knollway Drive, Willowbrook, was charged with DUI, police said, after she appeared to be under the influence of alcohol during a speeding stop near the intersection of Route 83 and 55th Street at 1:52 a.m., and failed an ensuing breath test.

She was charged with two counts of DUI and speeding, and was released to appear in court.

LISLE

Feb. 11: Jose L. Mora, 42, 2089 Appaloosa Court West, Wheaton, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol at 9:51 p.m. at Ogden and Naper boulevards, Lisle police said.

Feb. 9: Trina A. Owens, 36, 315A Woodcreek, Bolingbrook, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol at 2:50 a.m. at Route 53 and Short Street, Lisle police said.

WHEATON

Feb. 9:

  • Police charged Anthony Morano, 24, of Carol Stream with driving under the influence of alcohol. He drove a black 1996 Toyota Corolla near the intersection of Bloomingdale and Geneva roads around 2:30 a.m. when police stopped him. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.
  • Police charged Nicholas Arias, 19, of Lombard with driving under the influence of drugs. He drove a gray 2006 Hyundai Tucson near the intersection of President Street and Taft Avenue around 1:35 a.m. when police stopped him. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.
  • Police charged Seth Andrew, 29, of Lombard with driving under the influence of alcohol. He drove a black 2006 Nissan Murano near the intersection of Illinois and President streets around 1:35 a.m. when police stopped him. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.

Feb. 7: Police charged Michael Grigaitis, 28, of Chicago with driving under the influence of alcohol. He drove a gray 2012 Jeep Cherokee near the intersection of Butterfield and Naperville roads around 12:20 a.m. when police stopped him. He was booked at the Wheaton Police Department and released later that morning.

WOODRIDGE

Feb. 4: Lauren Richard, 19, of the 15000 block of Hometown Drive in Plainfield, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle at the Loews Theater, 10000 Woodward Avenue, at 12:50 a.m.

Feb. 2: Mark Orcutt, 55, of the 6300 block of Arnold Drive in Woodridge, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of an accident. Police said Orcutt hit a pole in the 6300 block of Arnold Drive at 8:47 a.m. and drove away.
