1 Suspected Of Using Counterfeit Money For Bond

Patch catches you up on some of DuPage County's high-profile court cases.

The following are recent developments in notable cases from DuPage County court:

Downers Grove—A Downers Grove woman, charged with official misconduct relating to her job with the Illinois Tollway Authority, was briefly taken into custody a second time after DuPage County Jail officials determined part of her $75,000 bail was paid with counterfeit money. [Name Removed] was arrested earlier this month on charges she illegally searched a law enforcement database for personal use. A woman posted $7,500 bond for [Name Removed] on Feb. 3, but $1,080 of that amount was found to be fake. [Name Removed] was arrested on a warrant and later released on Feb. 10 after a second person posted the necessary $1,080 bond. She returns to court March 5.

Elmhurst
—Attorneys in the case of an Elmhurst man accused of stealing money from Messiah Lutheran Church could be close to an agreement. Robert Drefs appeared in court Feb. 14 when his public defender said prosecutors had made a revised offer to settle the case. Drefs, who is scheduled to return to court on March 12, was arrested last year on charges he forged $32,000 in checks belonging to the church.
