Council Candidate Arrested for Domestic Battery
Derek Bromstead, candidate for an At-Large City Council position, was arrested for domestic battery Feb. 1.
Police arrested , a candidate for an at-large position on the Wheaton City Council for domestic battery Tuesday, Feb. 1 in the 0-100 block of Mitchell Circle, Wheaton. Police were called to the home around 8:30 a.m. Feb. 1, police said.
"Right now I am focused on the well-being of all of my family members, whom I love very much. I have been advised not to comment on the pending charges now, but I will address them when I have been advised I am able to," Bromstead said. "I am asking for the public’s patience, understanding and prayers for my family during this difficult personal matter."
Bromstead, 43, is the owner of Genghis Grill, a Mongolian stir fry restaurant in downtown Wheaton and the president of the board of the Downtown Wheaton Association.
