‘Click It or Ticket’: Seat Belt Enforcement Push Starts Nov. 18

The Wheaton Police Department will increase seat belt enforcement from Nov. 18 through Dec. 1, 2013, thanks to the receipt of Illinois Department of Transportation Safety funds, the city announced in a release posted on its website.

Authorities say the goal of the increased enforcement is to significantly increase safety belt use, and to and raise awareness of the added risk of serious injury or death when driving without a seat belt.

The leading cause of death for those age 5 to 24 is vehicle crashes, the release states.
