Don't Turn Your Back: Cell Phone, Bike Thefts Reported

WEDNESDAY, MAY 15

600 Block of Kenilworth Thefts

  • Someone took a man's $100 cell phone when he left it unattended and unsecured in a weight room, police said. The incident occurred between 8 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. on this day.
  • Someone took a man's wallet with cash and cell phone from an unsecured gym bag, police said. The incident occurred between 4 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on this day in a swimming pool locker room. The cash, wallet and cell phone had a combined value of $500, according to a police report.
  • Someone took a man's $200 cell phone from a table near the workout area, police said. The incident occurred between 4:15 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. on this day. The man also left his wallet and keys on the table, and they were still there when he returned. "He stated he did not have a clear line of sight on the table while working out and did not notice anyone out of the ordinary," the police report said.

Mountain Bikes Missing

Someone took two unsecured mountain bikes from a woman's yard on the 600 block of East Parkway, police said. The incident occurred between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on this day while the bikes were learned against the side of the house. The bikes have a combined value of $520, according to a police report.

Cell Phone Theft

A man discovered his $140 cell phone went missing while he went to use a restroom on the 700 block of West Liberty Avenue. He was inside a building sitting at a table at about 11 a.m. when he got us to use the restroom and left his phone, according to police.

$700 Loss in 10 Min.

Someone took a woman's cell phone and make-up bag from an unlocked car in Danada Square East, police said. The woman arrived at 5:05 p.m. to get some groceries and was gone for about 10 minutes.  The total value of the phone and make-up bag is $700, according to a police report.

Batteries and Bar Burglary

Someone stole four green 12-volt batteries and a copper bar on the 1900 block of North Main Street, police said. The incident occurred sometime between noon April 30 and 3:25 p.m. on this day. The unknown person entered a secured lock box and cut wires to get the batteries and bar, which have a combined value of $400.
