Car Break-Ins, Thefts Reported in Church Parking Lot

Two discovered broken car windows and missing purses after a Lowell School recital at Wheaton Evangelical Free church Tuesday, Dec. 16.

Two people left a Lowell School recital at Wheaton Evangelical Free Church, 520 E. Roosevelt Rd Tuesday, Dec. 16 and discovered their cars had been broken into and purses stolen. According to the police report, the victims, a Warrenville resident and a Sandwich resident, went into Wheaton Evangelical Free Church at about 6:30 p.m. for a Lowell School recital.

When the Sandwich resident returned to her car, a black 2008 Jeep Liberty, after 8 p.m., she noticed the front passenger side window was broken and her brown leather school bag was missing. The passenger side window of the car next to hers was also broken, police said. The bag was valued at approximately $25. The Warrenville resident saw that the same window of her white 2008 VW Jetta was also broken and her purse was missing. The purse, valued at $30, had a $20 wallet and $30 cash inside.
