Bank Robbed in West Chicago

Officials believe the man in the West Chicago incident appears to be the same person responsible for a bank robbery in Bloomingdale last week.

A man robbed Fifth Third Bank, 1800 N. Neltnor Blvd. in West Chicago, around 10:35 a.m. Tuesday, according to a press release from the City of West Chicago.

Police responded to a call reporting the robbery around 10:35 a.m. According to the release, a man entered the bank and gave a note demanding money to a teller and left with an undisclosed amount of money.

He walked east on Route 59, according to the release.

The man is described as a white male, approximately 25-35 years of age, between 6-foot and 6-foot-3 in height, with a muscular build, according to the release. The suspect was wearing a tan “newsboy hat,” a dark long-sleeved shirt, and dark pants with white piping down the sides. He also had a colorful tattoo on the right side of his neck, according to the release.

Based on the physical description and behavior in both cases, officials believe the man in the West Chicago incident appears to be the same person responsible for a bank robbery that occurred on Thursday, Aug. 9 at a BMO Harris Bank location on Lake Street in Bloomingdale.

The city asks anyone with information regarding either robbery is encouraged to contact the FBI at (312) 421-6700 or the West Chicago Police Department at (630) 293-2222.
