NCAA Football Week 6

Observations from this week in college football

Notre Dame Wins Again...I'm Still Not Impressed

Notre Dame continued their winning ways with a 41-3 pounding of the Miami Hurricanes to improve their record to 5-0. Until Notre Dame beats a legitimate team though, I will not be convinced that this team has what it takes to be successful in a major BCS bowl. The two previously ranked opponents that they have played this year currently have two losses and are no longer ranked. A match-up next week against number 18 Stanford will be crucial in determining the legitimacy of this Irish team.

SEC Powerhouses Beat Up on Each Other

-Number 6 South Carolina dominates Number 5 Georgia 35-7 at home. South Carolina is the most balanced team in the country right now besides Alabama. As for Georgia, that number 5 rank was much too high.

-Number 3 LSU falls to Number 10 Florida 14-6. LSU's lack of offensive production against quality opponents will hurt them moving forward. Florida should move way up in the rankings considering three top 10 teams lost on Saturday.

BIG 10 Wide Open

-Ohio State is clearly the class of the BIG 10 Leaders Division. The only problem is they are BIG 10 Championship and Bowl ineligible. Penn State, who is also in the Leaders Division, is obviously Bowl ineligible also. Pre-season favorite Wisconsin leads the division with a 4-2 record despite playing awful football thus far this year. Purdue, technically a 1/2 game behind, owns a 3-2 record.

-Michigan and Michigan State haven't live up to pre-season expecatations, making the Legends division of the Big 10 extremely open as well. One loss Northwestern leads the division, followed by a four way tie for second between the Michigan schools, Iowa and Nebraska. Nebraska is my pick to win the Legends division of the BIG 10.
