CoffeeCON 2013: The Consumer Coffee Event Returns

CoffeeCON is the only consumer coffee event in the country. It's a one-day coffee university teaching every brewing method in hands-on labs.

Kevin Sinnott’s CoffeeCON is the only consumer coffee event in the country and is returning to Warrenville, IL on May 4, 2013. This one-day coffee university will teach every brewing method available, many in hands-on labs. Learn how to make Turkish coffee, try the vacuum method, or experience hands-on brewing with a $5000 coffeemaker.

Hear top industry speakers like George Howell, the father of specialty coffee, who will transform your ability to taste coffee in his two-hour tasting lab. Learn about sustainability with Christy Thorns of Allegro Coffee, who broke the glass ceiling as one of the first women green coffee buyers. Hear Oren Bloostein, roast master and owner of Manhattan based coffee chain Oren’s Daily Roast, talk about coffee entrepreneurism. Chicago’s own Jim Schulman will teach the tips and tricks to brew café quality espresso at home. Also attending will be the nation’s top ten coffee bloggers. This is a chance to meet in-person your favorite on-line coffee gurus.

Over ten different specialty coffee roasters, both large and small, will be serving samples of the best coffee in the country. Roasters include Metropolis Coffee, Counter Culture Coffee, Dark Matter, HalfWit, I Have A Bean, and many more. Wonderful food to accompany the coffee will also be available. Live music acts from Chicago Acoustic Underground will perform at this one of a kind coffeehouse. Independent home roasters will be roasting live outside and will be giving away bags of freshly roasted beans to anyone who asks. A massive free prize drawing of thousands of dollars of free coffeemakers will finish the day.
