Congressman Roskam voted for a farm bill which tried to cut food-stamp expenditures by a small amount by decreasing the amount that some selected families would get.
There is a current proposal that would cut food-stamp expenditures much more. This would increase the federal minimum wage. The majority of families on food stamps have at least one member making the minimum wage. This hasn't come before the House yet, but many House members have signed a petition to bring it to the floor for a vote.
