Roskam: CBO Report Confirms Another Obama Policy Hurts Working Americans

Today, Chief Deputy Whip Peter Roskam (R-IL) released the following statement on the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) report that President Obama's minimum wage hike proposal would cost 500,000 jobs:

"Last week, I met with volunteer firefighters from across the 6th District to discuss how Obamacare's employer mandate threatens their fire stations and is slashing work hours and paychecks for so many Americans already struggling to make ends meet. At every turn, President Obama's job-killing policies are making a bad economy worse. Today, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) said that the president's proposal to hike the minimum wage will cost 500,000 workers their jobs. This comes in the wake of the CBO estimating that President Obama's healthcare law will cause the workforce to lose over two million full-time jobs and decrease people's take home pay. The number one issue that people in Illinois and across the country care about is jobs, and it's clear that the president's policies are hurting the very people he says he wants to help."
