Moms Talk Poll: What's Your No. 1 Fear When You Host Thanksgiving?

We have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving, and a lot to do, with all those relatives coming over the river and through the woods. What could go wrong? Take our Patch poll.

Let's face it, moms get the brunt of Thanksgiving. While the men folk watch football and await their annual, carefully prepared sumptuous feast, moms are—still too often—the ones stuck with the cooking and cleaning and happy hosting.

Yes, there are men folk, lumpier than your worst mashed potatoes. Yes, there are noisy children. Yes, there are siblings and in-laws. They are company—and with company, there is angst.

What could possibly go wrong?

Right?

I don't host Thanksgiving and politics aren't the usual discussion but religion or opinions have been known to enter our conversations. It gets to be uncomfortable when the differences in our opinions or religious beliefs come up. Parenting issues can be another hot topic. We all have the same basic morals and values but how we parent can be very different. I don't know about the rest of my relatives but this year I plan on listening more than talking...that is usually the first step in not getting into trouble. With all the kids' activities (which I am sure to hear a lot of complaining about), I will be most thankful that all of my family is together in one spot for a long period of time. Happy Thanksgiving!

I was thinking more along the lines of "will my gravy turn out right?" Although politics and religion do sometimes come up often revealing a surprising side of someone with a full belly and some wine. Maybe it's a good thing Jeff won't be here!
