Thomas Scheiner, 87, Nov. 24, 1923 - July 18, 2011

Thomas Scheiner, a resident of Wheaton since 1977, died Monday, July 18. He was 87.

Thomas Scheiner, a resident of Wheaton, since 1977, died Monday, July 18, at home. He was 87.

He was born November 24, 1923 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After high school he joined the Navy during World War Two. He served on a destroyer escort in the Pacific. He graduated from Marquette University with a degree in Civil Engineering. On October 15, 1949 he married Marion Lenz. He worked for the US Corps of Engineers until he retired. In retirement he became a consultant for McGurr Engineering in Wheaton. He served as a village trustee in Glen Ellyn, where they lived from 1956 until 1977. During the Vietnam War he and his family moved to Japan where he did work in Japan and Korea for the Corps of Engineers.

He is survived by his wife, Marion; three sons, Peter, Paul and David; and eight grandchildren, Brandon, Derek, Erin, Kristen, Elizabeth, Dan, Ken and Nick.

A memorial visitation was held on Friday, Jul. 22 at Hultgren Funeral Home.
