Sister Therese Rooney, 89, Mar. 3, 1922 - Jan. 16, 2012

Sr. Therese Rooney, IBVM of Wheaton, a member of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary for 71 years, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012. She was 89.

She was born in March 3, 1922 in Chicago.

An artist and historian, she taught in Chicago at St. Cyril, St. Bride, St. Bernard, and Loretto Academy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Catherine Rooney; her brother, William; and her sister, Rita.

Visitation will be 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20 at Resurrection Life Center, Chicago, and 4 p.m. at , 1600 Somerset Lane, Wheaton, followed by Words of Remembrance at 6:30 p.m. and funeral liturgy at 7:00 p.m.

Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 at Michael's Cemetery, Wheaton.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the IBVM Office of Development at Loretto Convent would be appreciated.
