Robert Miller of Wheaton died Saturday, Feb. 11. He was 84.
He was born August 27, 1927 in Chicago.
After high school he enlisted in the service. His military career included the Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard. He served during WWII and Korean War.
While in the Air Force he found he had a passion for flying. Eventually he was able to realize a lifelong dream to own a plane allowing him the freedom of flight. He and his son spent many hours in the air.
His other pastimes were playing football, baseball, bowling and fishing.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandra; his son, Steve; his long time sweetheart, Rita Gapinski; five grandchildren, Tony, Megan, Nick, Annie, Robbie; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 4 at the Glendale Heights VFW, 142 E Army Trail Road, Glendale Heights, IL. A private interment was held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
