Marshall Bentsen, 86, Nov. 4, 1926-Dec. 5, 2012

Visitation for Marshall Bentsen of Wheaton will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 at Hultgren Funeral Home.

Marshall LeRoy Bentsen, age 86, a longtime resident of Wheaton, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. He was born on November 4, 1926 in Chicago to Arne and Gudrun (nee Swaback) Bentsen.

Marshall graduated from University of Illinois in Management, from Triton College in Accounting and attended Moody Bible Institute evening classes. He worked as an accountant at various firms including: Bonnar and Vauter, Frazier and Torbit, MAP International and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. He served in the US Air Force during WWII. He also continued his father's business, Arne Bentsen and Sons Painting and Decorating in Oak Park.

He was a member of the Peoples Class at Wheaton Bible Church. He enjoyed fishing and swimming in Lake Geneva, WI.

In 1953 he married Viola Gustafson who preceded him in death in 1955. Their daughter Diane Evelyn was born in 1955. In 1963 he married Dorothy Kellogg and they had two sons, David Marshall and Samuel Arne.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Dorothy Bentsen, three children, Diane, David, and Samuel (Kirsten), four grandsons, Luke, Levi, Lars and Leif, and his brother, Warren. A special gratitude to Almario Adraneda who helped care for him for the last six years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ivar and his first wife Viola.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2012 from 3 to 5 at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL where a funeral service will follow at 5:00 P.M. with Rev. John White officiating. Interment will be held privately at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois.

This guy was my next-door neighbor for the past 13 years, I have nothing but kind words about him. He was always friendly and smiled when I saw him, he made an effort to greet people. Thanks for your military service to our country....and putting up with my crazy dogs. My condolences to his entire family, he will truly be missed. God Speed Mr. Bentsen
