Kaelan Mateo Mondragon of Wheaton died Thursday, March 28. He was 16.

He was born June 5, 1996 in Winfield.

Beloved son of Marcos and Justine; dear brother of Jordan and Miguel; loving grandson of Claudia and Darryl Kupperschmidt and the late Marcos and Virginia Mondragon of Frankfort, IL; adored great-grandson of Adele Galinaitis; and cherished by his aunts, uncles and many cousins.

He was a member of the Wheaton Warrenville South men's varsity volleyball team. He had an ear for music, especially the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and playing bass guitar. His incredible smile was infectious and his goofy ways brought a smile to all who knew him. Taken from his family too soon.

Visitation will be 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 3 at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Rd., Wheaton (1blk. east of Naperville Rd.). Private funeral service.
