Loraine Shanel, 86, Oct. 29, 1926-Feb. 28, 2013

Loraine P. "Spark" Shanel (nee Gorman), 86, entered heaven peacefully on February 28, 2013 at Wynscape Rehabilitation in Wheaton, IL. A long time resident of Glen Ellyn, IL and Fort Myers, FL, she was born October 29, 1926, grew up in Brookfield, IL, graduated in 1944 from Riverside-Brookfield High School. Spark is survived by the love of her life, her husband of 64 years, James E. Shanel of Wheaton; their children, Kathleen of Folsom, CA, Christy (Murphy) of Highland Park, IL, James (Jim) of Barrington, IL and William (Bill) (Susie) of St. Charles, IL; 12 grandchildren: Patricia and Kristina Hogan, Andy, Kenny, Scott and William Marsch, Christopher (Cody) Murphy, James, Mollye, Kathryn (Katie), Ashley and Will Shanel; five great-grand children: Andrew (Drew), Logan, Emily (Mimi), Holter and soon-to-be born baby Marsch; and Spark's brother, Thomas (Carol) Gorman, 80, of Glen Ellyn. Spark is preceded in death by her son Scott and her parents Thomas and Lillian Gorman. 

Visitation Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 E. Roosevelt Road (one blk. east of Naperville Rd.), Wheaton. Additional visitation and prayer service to be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Petronille Catholic Church, 425 Prospect Ave, Glen Ellyn.
