Jesse D. Prieto, 66, May 7, 1946-Dec. 4, 2012

Jesse D. Prieto, of Wheaton, IL passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at the age of 66. Born in Havana, Cuba, on May 7, 1946, he came to this country as part of Operation Peter Pan in 1960, where he settled with other Cuban refugee children in Lincoln, NE. It was there he met the love of his life, Betty L. Klaus while attending the University of Nebraska.

They married in the summer of 1969 and moved to Illinois. He was a loving husband to Betty; dear father to Barb Prieto Kading and Jason Prieto; respected father-in-law to John Kading; adored grandfather to four grandchildren - Monica (7), Sonya (5), Tyler (4) and Dylan (2); a noble brother and brother in-law to Yara and Efrain Sanchez; and devoted uncle to many nieces and nephews that loved him like a second father. His beloved dogs Lady and Bree were his constant home office companions and he loved cooking and entertaining.

He was such a jovial man with the most generous smile. He loved his pool, the people splashing in it and the flowers surrounding it. Jesse dedicated himself to his family and was always there to lend a helping hand and heart. His strong opinions coupled with a bear hug of an embrace will be sorely missed by friends and family, but will be remembered and thought of daily.

A visitation will be held on Sunday from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home 430 E. Roosevelt Rd., Wheaton, IL 60187. Monday funeral home prayers at 8:45 a.m. followed by a mass at St. James the Apostle Church in Glen Ellyn. at 9:30am. Services conclude at church.
