Howard Grupe, a longtime resident of Wheaton, died Wednesday, Mar. 9, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. He was 88.

He was born June 14, 1922 in Chicago. He graduated from Lane Technical High School in Chicago in 1940. He was a licensed cosmetologist and he and his wife, Marion, owned a beauty shop in Wheaton for over 50 years.
He was on the Wheaton Environmental Commission for 33 years, and was a member of the Illinois Railway Museum.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 63 years, Marion; a daughter, Gay; a son, Tracy; and a sister, Elaine.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Ellen Pardell.

Visitation was held Sunday, Mar. 13 at Hultgren Funeral Home. A funeral service was held Monday, Mar. 14.
