Georgia Gibson, 78, Mar. 3, 1933 - May 12, 2011

A visitation for Georgia Gibson will be from 10 a.m. until the time of a service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, at Williams Kampp Funeral Home in Wheaton.

Georgia Gibson of Wheaton died at home on Tuesday, May 10, after a short bout with pancreatic cancer. She was 78. 

She was born in Chicago on Mar. 3, 1933. She raised her family in Glen Ellyn and spent some time living in Safe Harbor, FL, during the '90s. She was a resident of Wheaton for the past 13 years.

Gibson attended Glenbard West High School, and went on to Illinois State University. She graduated with a degree in education from Elmhurst College. She taught elementary school in Bensenville for many years, and was a substitute elementary school teacher in Glen Ellyn.

After she retired, Gibson was involved in the Women's Department Club of Wheaton and the Glen Ellyn Book Review Club. She was also active in several social bridge groups. 

Gibson is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert; her two sons, Robert and James; and two grandchildren, Grant and Kristen.

A memorial visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of a service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, at Williams Kampp Funeral Home, 430 Roosevelt Road, Wheaton.
