Special Needs School to Open in Wheaton

New school for special needs children to be housed in former St. John Lutheran Elementary School building

The Bartlett Learning Center plans to open a new school for special needs children and young adults in Wheaton.  The Center operates Clare Woods Academy, a non-public alternative day school dedicated to educating children and young adults, ages 3-22, living with a variety of special needs. These needs include, but are not limited to Mental Impairments, Learning Disabilities, Autism, Down Syndrome, Behavioral Disorders, and Social/Emotional Disorders.

According to the Daily Herald, the Center will occupy the former St. John Lutheran School building in downtown Wheaton, which was originally built as an elementary school between the 1950s and 1990s.  The Center will be able to renovate the building to meet the needs of its student population.
