District 200 to Sell Hubble Bricks

District 200 will sill bricks from old Hubble school building in Wheaton as it is demolished and cleared for a Mariano's Fresh Market.

District 200 announced Thursday it will begin selling bricks from the old Hubble school building in Wheaton as it is demolished in the next few weeks. 

The District is working to have a commemorative plaque created that will be attached to each brick, according to the District 200 website. The cost of the bricks is not yet determined.

District 200 spokesman Erica Loiacono said the cost of the plaques attached to the bricks will determine the cost. She said the district will contact people in the next few weeks to notify them of the sale.

Developers expect to completely demolish the old Hubble school within the next six weeks to clear the site for a Mariano's Fresh Market in Wheaton.

Developer Bradford Real Estate on Sept. 10 closed on the Hubble property at the corner of Roosevelt and Naperville roads in Wheaton. Bradford CFO Chad Jones said Bradford will begin excavating and clearing the site in front of the school building mid-October.
