Strickler Joins Library Faculty at Wheaton College

Christa M. Strickler recently joined the Wheaton College faculty as Assistant Professor of Library Science.

Strickler is a graduate of Northwest University, where she earned a B.A. in Music. She also completed a Master of Library and Information Science at University of Washington.

Previously, Strickler served as Technical Services Librarian at D.V. Hurst Library at Northwest University.

Strickler specializes in the intersection of biblical and theological studies with information science, specifically in providing better access to Bible and theology resources through subject indexing, controlled vocabularies, and bibliometrics.

Each member of the library faculty serves as the subject librarian for one or more academic departments at Wheaton, a role that encompasses instruction in research skills, reference assistance, and collection development. In addition, each librarian has an area of special contribution. Strickler will provide leadership for the cataloging of all monographs in print and digital form.

"I am thrilled to be joining an institution with such a widespread reputation for academic excellence and the integration of Christian faith and learning,” Strickler says. “My aim is information hospitality: to provide such excellent access to information resources that library users feel comfortable with the research process and not intimidated or frustrated by it."

“I’m really happy that Christa has joined the Wheaton College community as a library faculty member,” says Director of Library and Archives Lisa Richmond. “She has a strong commitment to Christian liberal arts education, and brings additional experience and aptitude for resource description to our team.”
