Kim Joins Education Faculty at Wheaton College

Dr. Il-Hee Kim recently joined the Wheaton College faculty as Associate Professor of Education.

Kim is a graduate of Yonsei University in Korea, where he earned a B.A. in English Language and Literature. He completed an M.A. in English Language and Linguistics at Seoul National University, and an M.A. in teaching English as a Second Language at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He also received his doctorate in Educational Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Previously, Kim served as Associate Professor of Education Studies at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne. He was also the Head English Instructor at IKE English Language Institute in Seoul, Korea.

Kim is interested in the development of critical thinking skills among K-12 students. His research has been published in the internationally renowned academic journals such as Discourse Processes and American Educational Research Journal.

“I am humbled that God has called me to serve such a prestigious institution,” Kim says. “Wheaton College has a great tradition of integrating the Christian faith into academic learning. I am eager to incorporate Christian principles and perspectives in my teaching of educational theories and practices.”

“Dr. Kim has a deep passion for Christ,” says Wheaton College Provost Dr. Stanton Jones. “He’s a real dynamo spiritually, and is very highly regarded as a teacher. We feel really blessed to have him join the Wheaton College faculty.”
