Personal Responsibility - The Answer to the Health Care Crisis

When was the last time someone force fed you?

UGGG!  Take responsibility for myself?  How is that going to make a difference?  I'm going to ask a few questions:

  1. Are approximately 70% of Americans overweight or obese?
  2. Is this true in countries where starvation is a major issue there is not generally an obesity issue?
  3. Americans spend more money on health care than any other country by a third to a half?
  4. In general, do we have the choice of appropriate healthy foods - and that doesn't have to mean organic, free range, pesticide free - although better, it DOESN'T HAVE to be expensive?
  5. If you don't know how to eat healthy, are there resources?
  6. Do you believe the evening news and marketing about what is healthy to eat or have you learned how to read a label?
  7. Did you chose what you put on your fork?
  8. If there isn't healthy food available, can you make it available?
  9. Do you have the ability to change that situation or are you making excuses?
  10. Has anyone force fed you today?

How are these questions the answer to the Health Care crisis?  Obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure are more often than not FOOD related. Regardless of what you think, the research shows genetics only plays a 25-30% role in what happens to our health! These so-called "lifestyle diseases" cost our health care system more than any other disease.  And honestly there is not a disease process at work here - there is a lifestyle disorder at work here, this is a choice.

You are fat, have high cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure because of what you are doing to your body through poor nutrition and lack of movement.

Responsibility or respond-ability, you chose the response. And you chose what you put in your mouth...or not
