WWSHS Tiger Marching Band Places 1st in Class A at NCHS Marching Classic Competition

The Wheaton Warrenville South High School Tiger Marching Band placed 1st out of three bands in Class A division and 4th overall in a field of 16 bands at the 7th Annual Naperville Central High School Marching Classic, held at Benedictine University on Saturday, October 5. For its 2013 competitive season, the Tiger Marching Band is presenting a 7.5-minute show titled “Inner Conflict,” which features three distinct movements: Hope, Darkness, and Unity. The music was composed by Jordan Yi, director of bands at Jefferson High School in Rockford, Illinois. Yi is a graduate of Northern Illinois University and a former member of the Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps. Along with writing the music for this year’s WWSHS competitive program, Yi designed the show’s drill, a set of diagrams illustrating the complex formations band members create on the field during a show.

This year’s Tiger Marching Band features 89 members, and is comprised of 20 freshmen, 15 sophomores, 20 juniors, and 34 seniors. These band members hail from Wheaton (64), Warrenville (22), Naperville (1), Glen Ellyn (1), and Lisle (1).
