Wheaton Warrenville South Tiger Marching Band Wins Third Place in its Division, Fourth Place Overall, at Falcon Marching Band Festival

WWSHS Tiger Marching Band placed third out of eight bands in its division at the Falcon Marching Band Festival at WNHS on September 15. Of the 16 bands competing, WWSHS earned fourth place overall.

The Wheaton Warrenville South High School Tiger Marching Band placed third out of eight bands in its division at the 25th Annual Falcon Marching Band Festival at Wheaton North High School on Saturday, September 15.

Of the 16 bands competing at the festival, WWSHS earned an impressive fourth place overall, based on the band’s combined scores for music performance, visual performance, general effect, and percussion. In addition, the band’s percussion placed second overall.

The Tiger Marching Band features 69 musicians, 19 color guard members, and two drum majors. For its 2012 competitive season, the band is presenting a show titled “Nightmare,” which features three distinct movements: Your Worst Nightmare, Clash of Dreams, and Hope in Darkness. The music was composed by Jordan Yi, a student at Northern Illinois University majoring in music education. Yi was a drum major with the NIU Huskie Marching Band and a member of The Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps.

The Tiger Marching Band is scheduled to compete next in the Chicagoland Marching Band Festival at Wheeling High School on Saturday, September 22, in the Knight of Champions Marching Band Competition at Prospect High School in Mt. Prospect on Saturday, September 29, in the Marching Mustang Music Bowl at Downers Grove South High School on Saturday, October 13, and at the Greater St. Louis Band Festival at the Edward Jones Dome on Friday, October 19.

The band is directed by Vic Scimeca. Tiger Marching Band staff  includes assistants Jordan Yi and Don Kaihatsu, and Greg Abel, Daniel Pratt, Marcus Taylor, Amanda Malarich and Tara Jarvie.
