Highland Dancers performing in Wheaton this weekend.

Thistle & Heather Highland Dancers performing on Sunday February 12, at First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton.

First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton invites members of the community to join them for a performance by The Thistle & Heather Highland Dancers at 9:45am Sunday February 12 in the Ministry Center of the Church. This event is part of a weekend long celebration of the Scottish heritage of the Presbyterian Church-Kirkin ‘o’ the Tartans.

The Thistle & Heather Highland Dancers of Chicagoland, founded in 1981 are “ethnic artists” of Highland Dance. They perform the colorful, expressive and physically demanding traditional Scottish Highland and National Dances. Ensembles of Thistle & Heather dancers have performed for half-time at a Chicago Bulls Game, at the Heartland International Tattoo and in “Dance Chicago”.

The dancers annually appear in the Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade, at Daley Plaza for St. Andrew’s Day and Tartan Day, and at the Museum of Science and Industry for Christmas Around the World. Additionally many of the dancers compete at the local, regional, national, and international level. There is no charge for this event.
