Sign This Petition to Let Randy Hultgren Know You Want Sensible Gun Control

Petition Congressman Hultgren to support sensible gun control.

Many Americans have been deeply moved by the recent violence at Sandy Hook Elementary School and feel it is time for stronger regulations on gun ownership.

No one presumes the problem lies solely with guns. Everyone knows gun control is one part of a large, complex problem. This isn’t about taking guns away from responsible people who want to own revolvers for home defense or enjoy hunting. It is about preventing the wrong kinds of guns from getting in the wrong kinds of hands.

Randy Hultgren, our representative in Congress, has an NRA “A” rating and supports NRA positions such as opposition to closing the “Terror Gap” (allows people on the Terror Watch List to purchase weapons) and even to opposing closing gun show loopholes.

If you live in the 14th District, please let Congressman Hultgren know that you want sensible gun control to be part of the solution by signing this petition: http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/petition-for-restriction-of-weapon-ownership/

You can also call Congressman Hultgren at (202) 225-2976 and tell his staff how you feel. Better yet, call him twice.

The 2nd amendment is one sentence that gives "the people" (meaning collectively -- when the constitution refers to "individuals" it uses the word "person") the right to form a "militia" to protect the "security of a free state". Not sure what that wording has to do with the right of individual criminals and mentally disturbed people to shoot up people in theaters, churches, malls, schools, etc. It's about the right to form an army to protect the nation from security threats. Even Congressman Hultgren admitted to us in a meeting that he does not believe that the Democrats have it as part of their agenda to take away responsible gun owners' rights.

Sincerely Jessica, what would you expect Congressman Hultgren to say about the Democrats? We have an excessive amount of laws that we can not enforce now. The critical point has nothing to do with guns but how we enforce the laws against criminals and how we help mentally unstable people. That is where we should be spending our time and money.

Do we have one about background checks at gun shows?

What about one preventing "straw" purchases?

As I stated earlier...why don't we work on enforcing current laws on the books and see how that goes. Maybe, figure out how we can prevent judges from legislating from the bench and simply enforce the laws. You're not going to change how criminals get guns. Well armed citizens are the best defense. We need our medical community to help devise a plan to handle the mentally unstable.
