ICWS - Zoning Board of Appeals

The Islamic Center Western Suburbs  (ICWS) has been illegally using a single family home as a prayer center since 2008.  After complaints from neighbors, they submitted a petition for Conditional Use to the DuPage ZBA. During their third petition they testified that they were moving because of the nuisance.  In May of 2012, the Fourth Petition to use it as a religious institute was turned down with a 15-3 vote.    Since then ICWS has filed a lawsuit and refilled their petition for Conditional Use and ZBA voted to endorse it.  Nothing other than the lawsuit has changed.

There are plenty of other locations, that already have the correct zoning which could be purchased and used for the ICWS religious center.  Their current use of a single family home is causing problems with traffic, flooding, and in general is a nuisance to their neighbors.  Please the county board to stand up for the rule of law, and deny this petition for the same reasons that previous petitions were denied.

Recently the DuPage County zoning board of appeals (ZBA) endorsed the ICWS petition and the County is now racing it to the Development Committee and County Board for a Vote. The Development Committee is scheduled to meet at the County offices, 421 County Farm Rd at 8:30am followed by the County Board meeting at 10:00am on June 25th, 2013.
