Western Access O'Hare is Moving Forward

Work has begun to open transportation access to O’Hare International Airport from the west

LISLE, Ill., April 2, 2014- Choose DuPage, a driving economic development organization for DuPage County, has released a new video demonstrating the positive regional impact of Western Access O’Hare. The video, now available on the Choose DuPage website, details how Western Access O’Hare is a game-changing development that will create opportunity for local businesses and those considering a location in DuPage County.

Each year, 77 million passengers and 1.7 million tons of cargo can only access O’Hare International Airport from the east from I-90 and I-290. The project will add a western four-lane highway entrance to the airport which will connect to the Elgin-O’Hare Expressway. With this extension a bypass or ring road will connect Interstates I-90 and I-294. Ultimately, Western Access O’Hare will ease travel, reduce congestion and enable quicker access to O’Hare from the west.

Businesses looking to locate in DuPage County will now be closer to O’Hare International Airport and I-90, I-294 and I-290. This easy access to national and global markets will enhance the competitiveness and productivity of local businesses while fostering economic growth.

Western Access O’Hare will create 127 square miles of untapped opportunity positioned for the global business marketplace in addition to the current appealing attractions of DuPage County including:
